The scenery from the beloved film Under the Tuscan Sun comes alive in this comprehensive tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d’Orcia. Rather than being one place, Val d’Orcia refers to the entire region in the province of Siena, which extends all the way to Monte Amiata.
The tour begins with a scenic drive through the region from Florence, as you travel in style in the back of our luxury Mercedes vehicle with your private driver and guide discussing the history of the region with you as you drive through its unmistakable landscape of rolling hills and winding roads lined with cypress trees.

Your first destination will be a wine tasting session in Montalcino, the land of the world-renowned Brunello wine.

Experience Montepulciano & Second Winery
At your own pace, you can explore the charm and elegance of Montepulciano, one of the most enchanting towns in the heart of Tuscany. This enchanting hilltop town, encircled by medieval walls, is known for its Renaissance buildings, stunning views, and for producing one of Italy’s most famous wines, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
We suggest you take some time out from our guided experiences to visit the impressive Palazzo Comunale and the beautiful Duomo of Montepulciano. Meander down the narrow cobblestone streets and enjoy the spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside that the town offers.
Next, rejoin your guide to head towards one of the local wineries, where you will enjoy your second wine tasting of the day.
Montepulciano is renowned for its red Vino Nobile wines. At a specialist local producers, you will learn about the wine-making process, and taste some of the best wines produced in the region, including Tuscan classics and Wine Spectator favorites such as Rosso di Montalcino, Rosso di Montepulciano, Brunello, or Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
Pienza, Cheese Tasting, and Lunch
Sampling the luxurious wines and taking in the stunning sights will have made you work up quite an appetite, and that will be sated in the picturesque little village of Pienza.
Located on a hill overlooking the Orcia valley, the town has some incredible views and picture-postcard perfect little cobbled alleyways, but is perhaps most famous for being home to Pecorino sheep’s Cheese. Of course, a delicious selection of this local delicacy will be available to you on the tour as well.
Taking in so much beauty at once is exhausting, and luckily, the typical Tuscan fare served up at lunch will aim to give you a moment to relax and take it all in!
Here you will enjoy a truly exclusive experience as you join the owners of a local Agriturismo farm amid stunning surroundings for a classically Tuscan-style lunch where all the ingredients have been sourced on-site or at a local market.
You can also visit the Agriturismo’s ‘Cinghiali’ if you wish, where you can see their wild boars (which are famous in this area).
Workshop With a Local Ceramics Artisan
To round off our tour of the Val d’Orcia, we have yet another exclusive experience for you as you visit the workshop of a local ceramics artist who will share what it’s like to operate in what used to be an Etruscan cave.
