Today it is widely regarded as one of the must-see hotspots in England due to its gorgeous beaches and scenic walks, stunning piers reaching out into the sea, an enviable gastronomy scene, its reputation as a cultural and artistic hub, and its status as the “unofficial gay capital of the UK” thanks to a large LGBT population.
Your private guide will take you to get a taste of India and China on the British Seaside as you visit the grand Royal Pavilion. Built as a pleasure palace for King George IV it combines classic Georgian grandeur with influences from Eastern architecture and visual flourishes.
Brighton Highlights On Your Day Trip:

In the afternoon your guide will explore the famous Lanes of Brighton with you. Formerly the central hub of the town in its days as an old fishing village, the lanes are now a thriving and effervescent district full of craft and artisan stores and of course, plenty of quality restaurants serving fresh local produce plucked directly from the sea!
In the early evening, we will make our way down to the Isle of Wight, however, not before stopping in the town of Chichester where the remains and remnants of its history as a key location during the Roman Invasion of AD43 will be poured over with your guide as you visit the well preserved Roman baths at the Novium Museum, the city’s magnificent 11th-century cathedral & wander around the Roman designed streets.
We will then catch the ferry across to the Isle of Wight where you’ll be delivered to your accommodation for the evening by your private guide.
Day 6: Isle of Wight Tour

This is England’s largest island and has been home to several notable figures from British history such as the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson and of course Queen Victoria.

Day 7: Salisbury – Stonehenge – Winchester
In the morning we will visit the famous Salisbury Cathedral, home of the Magna Carta and with a history dating back to 1092.
Alongside viewing the world’s best-preserved copy of the original Magna Carta or ‘Great Charter of Freedom’, Salisbury has many other delights and treasures to discover with your guide. It features the tallest spire in Britain – reaching a mightily impressive 404 feet, and houses Europe’s oldest working clock!
Our next stop will be at perhaps the most famous prehistoric site on Earth – the mystical Stonehenge.
Built between 3000-2000 BC with stones weighing up to 25 tonnes, the site is today a UNESCO World Heritage site managed by English Heritage. Stonehenge is one of the world’s oldest and most famous prehistoric monuments, and has been mesmerizing visitors for over 4,500 years, and is still today one of Britain’s most famous cultural icons.
You will explore the site and its fascinating history on a private tour with your guide.
Upgrade: Exclusive Inner-Circle Stonehenge Tour
Experience perhaps the most famous stones in the world like few ever could imagine: on a completely private tour of the ‘inner circle’ of the monument, not open to the general public with a private guide.

In the afternoon, along with your guide, we will visit the beautiful Winchester Cathedral (where the famous author Jane Austen is buried).
Commonly cited as one of the best examples of Gothic Cathedrals in all of Europe, your guide will relay to you the significance Cathedral held as the seat of power in Norman times and the role it played throughout centuries of history as you admire the stunning architecture, gorgeous stained glass windows and still in-tact medieval woodwork.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to view the many treasures and artworks hosted in the Winchester Cathedral museum including the stunning 12th century Winchester Bible and the remains of Saxon royalty!
After Winchester, we will head to one of England’s most famous and picturesque towns, Bath.
Day 8: Bath & The Cotswolds
Your guide will be waiting for you as you get set to tour the historic town of Bath. Famous for its incredibly preserved Roman baths, still preserved and filled with hot steaming water each day despite being constructed back in 70 AD, and which reveal a fascinating insight into what Roman life was like in Britain. Alongside the monument itself, the site hosts an interactive museum that will give you a further understanding of Roman Britain.
You will also explore some of the famous streets made recently famous by the TV series, Bridgerton, including the picturesque Royal Crescent.
After a morning investigating Roman Britain, we are willing to bet that you will be more than ready for some traditional fare in one of Bath’s classic historical pubs: the Saracen’s Head where Charles Dickens used to enjoy a pint, cheers!
Half Day in The Cotswolds
In the afternoon, you will head to the picture-perfect Cotswolds.
When you see images of the beautiful rolling green hills of the English countryside, it’s usually the Cotswolds. Honey-colored cottages with thatched roofs, rolling hills, brooks, streams, and stone villages. Notable quaint villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury & Burford will be a selection of the towns that you will be able to visit.
You may also wish to experience an exclusive afternoon tea in Prince Charles’s private residence Highgrove House & explore the gardens where Princes William & Harry played.
If you would like to extend your experience in the Cotswolds to relax and refresh, we can add additional days to your itinerary, just let us know in our quick tour request form below.
Day 9: Blenheim Palace & Oxford
We will enjoy a final drive through the green countryside of the Cotswolds before arriving at the birthplace of Winston Churchill: the UNESCO-listed World Heritage site, Blenheim Palace. It is the finest non-royal palace in England dating to the early 18th century & one of the few examples of the English Baroque style.
You will wander the majestic corridors breathing in the history and experiencing where Churchill proposed to his wife, Clementine Hosier, and see a sample of some of his paintings.
Then it’s onto Oxford; most famous for one of the finest universities in the world, Oxford University. Founded in the 11th century, 28 out of a total of 76 English prime ministers graduated from this prestigious university.
Oxford Day Trip
It is important to note that Oxford University is not just a single campus, instead, it consists of 38 facilities across the city, some of the highlights to consider for your tour are:
The Bodleian Library
This iconic building is one of the oldest and most beautiful libraries in Europe. Fans of the Harry Potter movies will recognize it as the setting for the Hogwarts Infirmary.
University of Oxford Botanic Garden
The oldest botanical garden in the UK, and one of the most diverse in the world containing over five thousand different species of plants.
Christ Church
The glorious cathedral and picturesque grounds of Christ church is probably the most well-known campus in the University and again featured heavily in the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Dining Hall and several other scenes.
With your private guide, you’ll explore the history and stories of this famous university town. Known as the city of ‘dreaming spires’ due to the many spires that adorn the rooftops of the colleges & churches.
Founded as a monastic institution where monks instructed theology, over time it became home to the university and some of the most famous literary names in the English language such as Tolkein, CS Lewis, Lewis Carroll, Graham Greene, and Oscar Wilde also read at Oxford.
Oxford has one of the many claims to the title of having one of the oldest pubs in England: The Bear Inn since 1242.
Day 10: Morning Tour of Cambridge
Originally a Roman and Viking trading village, the city is located on the River Cam so if you enjoy rowing, you can punt down the river (the long, narrow, and flat bottomed boats that line the river Cam are called ‘Punts’). Or you may choose to take a walking tour around the city or even visit the modern art masterpieces at Kettle’s Yard – the most homely art gallery you’ll ever come across because it was actually formerly the home Jim Ede the former curator of the Tate Gallery, who filled it with artworks from a variety of famous names such as Barbara Hepworth and Joan Mirò.
Meanwhile, the internationally revered Cambridge University was founded here in 1209 – making it the second oldest University in the English-speaking language.
Many famous luminaries have passed through Cambridge’s gates since then, including Stephen Hawking, Charles Darwin, Rosalind Franklin, Lord Byron, and many others too innumerable to mention.
Similarly to Oxford, Cambridge is not just one distinct campus, and you can take your pick of sights you want to visit from across:
- Magdalene College
- St John’s College
- Trinity College
- Trinity Hall
- Clare College
- King’s College
- Queen’s College
Afternoon Tour of Lincoln
In the afternoon you can visit the two most iconic locations in the Medieval town of Lincoln.
Lincoln Castle was commissioned in 1608 by William the Conqueror and overlooks the town imperiously to this day. Walking the circumference of the Castle allows you to enjoy some exquisite panoramic views of Lincoln while your guide discusses the fascinating history of the Castle with you, and the role it played throughout the city’s history.
Inside the castle, your guide will take you to visit another of the original copies of the Magna Carta – which played such a massive role in shaping society in England today.
The Georgian & Victorian Prison exhibition provides an informative and at times quite brutal look at the Law and Justice system of the period, while you stand in the section of the castle that actually housed the prisoners whose stories you are hearing.
An ancient Anglo Scandinavian church was discovered 3 meters below ground within the castle walls in 2013 and along with other recent discoveries have formed the basis of an archaeology exhibition at the castle discussing Lincoln and its inhabitants in the Roman, Medieval, Georgian and Victorian era.
The Heritage Skills Centre, hidden within the Castle grounds, offers taster sessions on crafts such as stained glass works, silversmithing, and stone carving.
Then it’s onto Lincoln’s impressive cathedral (also commissioned by William the Conqueror); widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture to be found anywhere in the world, on your private tour you will find out exactly why the Victorian writer John Ruskin as “out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have”.
Amongst the highlights of Lincoln Cathedral, your guide will talk you through:
The Lincoln Imp
Hidden near the rafters, your guide will help to locate the infamous Lincoln Imp! Legend has it that he was turned to stone by an angel for his impudence!
The Memorial Statue of Alfred Lord Tennyson
The poet most famous for his works, “The Charge of the Light Brigade” “Ulysses” & “Break, Break, Break” is honored with a statue engraved with the poem, ”Flower in the Crannied Wall”.
Medieval & Wren Libraries
The medieval library was built in 1422 and its timber-framed walls still house some of the centuries-old reading desks, manuscripts, books, and other printed works from the era. By investigating further you will come across the Wren library – where you will find an original manuscript of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, selected works of poetry by John Donne, alongside other centuries-old treasures.
The Airmen's Chapel
The Airmen’s Chapel houses three Books of Remembrance containing the names of 25,611 men who flew from Lincoln RAF bases in the Second World War and who sadly never returned.
Your accommodation for the evening will be in Lincoln.
Day 11: York Day Trip
Time to head to one of the prettiest cities in England, York. In fact, here you will spend a full day exploring the highlights of this fascinating town.
You can visit the York Minster Cathedral, one of the largest examples of Gothic architecture north of the Alps with over 800 years of history. It is also home to the largest collection of stained glass in the UK, some pieces dating back to the 12th century.
Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Mansion House, one of York’s great historic treasures, and step back in time through 650 years of history at Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, the most well-preserved guildhall in Europe.
Meanwhile, overlooking the city, Clifford’s tower is the last intact part of York Castle, making your way up to the top is definitely worth it as the structure affords incredible scenic views looking out across the gorgeous city.
Experience Viking York! The history here in York doesn’t begin in the medieval era, in fact, there was a full Viking settlement discovered under the streets here. That location has now become the Jorvik interactive exhibition which gives you the opportunity to understand what life was like in Jorvik (the Viking name for York) in the 9th century.
And alas, we come to the end of our tour! From York, we provide you with a transfer to London (or anywhere else in the country) or perhaps continue your journey north into bonnie Scotland like in this example tour itinerary.
Day 12: Hadrian’s Wall – Edinburgh
Time to visit one of Roman Britain’s greatest legacies, Hadrian’s Wall. Built by Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. Now recognized as one of the “Frontiers of the Roman Empire” World Heritage Site, it runs for a total length of 135 km (85 miles).
There are many key sites and attractions along the great frontier that you may wish to visit with your guide, just some o the highlights include:
The Roman Army Museum
Where there are three galleries, 3D film, and holographic to give you an incredible insight into life as a roman soldier in the second century.
Corbridge Roman Town
Once a bustling town and thriving Roman community hub, walking through the streets now with your guide will allow you to gain a fuller appreciation of life as a citizen back then as you visit the old markets, workshops and temples.
Birdoswald Roman Fort
Your guide will take you to walk along with one of the longest and best-preserved sections of the original wall.
Walltown Crags & Turret
To witness the grandeur and drama of the most spectacular section of the wall.
From Hadrian’s Wall, you’ll be taken north to the rugged, magical lands of bonnie Scotland where you’ll promptly be delivered to its famed capital: Edinburgh.
You may have time in the evening to explore the city with your guide from your centrally located accommodation – or take the evening to rest up ahead of an incredible 7 days touring in Scotland.
Day 13: Edinburgh Castle – Holyrood Palace – Royal Yacht Britannia – Old Town & New Town – Arthur’s Seat
With so much to do and see in Edinburgh, we’ll waste no time on your first day in Scotland and head straight to Edinburgh Castle for a guided tour.
This historic fortress dominates the skyline of Edinburgh – perched proudly above the capital on Castle Rock – so you’ll likely have caught a glimpse of its beauty while traveling through the city before we embark on your guided tour of the interior. When inside the castle, we’ll find out all about its turbulent history, its importance to the people of Scotland as well as the kings and queens who called the stone fortress home in yesteryears.
Once we’ve safely descended down Castle Rock, we’ll visit the glorious Holyrood Palace – the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, Queen Elizabeth II.
We’ll spend an hour or so exploring the palace – including the 16th-century historic apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots – and its impressive surrounding grounds before continuing our Edinburgh adventure with a visit to perhaps one of the most famous (unsunk) ships in the world: The Royal Yacht Britannia.
This former floating palace spent 43 years traveling more than a million nautical miles around the globe in service of Her Majesty The Queen before (thankfully for us) being permanently berthed in Edinburgh – allowing the public to tour and explore this magnificent piece of engineering history.
Finally, we’ll spend the rest of the afternoon exploring some more of the city’s distinct Old & New towns, where you can witness the architectural history of Edinburgh first-hand before we finish the day with a beautiful evening hike up to Arthur’s Seat where you’ll have unparalleled views over the sun setting over the city.
Day 14: Edinburgh – Loch Lomond – Inveraray Castle – Glencoe – Fort William
Our first destination outside of Edinburgh will be the beautiful town of Luss which sits on the edge of the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. We’ll take a short tour of the town including the local parish church which is a surprising home to an ancient Viking burial stone; the current church dates back to the late 1800s, but the site has hosted a structure there since 514AD so there is plenty of history to immerse yourself in!
Once you’re finished exploring Luss, we’ll drive over the ‘Rest and be Thankful’ road (your driver will explain precisely why it is named as so) before we arrive at Loch Fyne where you’ll get the chance to sample some world-famous fresh oysters straight from the crystal clear waters of the local loch!
We’ll spend the rest of our afternoon exploring the nearby Inveraray Castle which is Home of the Duke of Argyle (and was recently used as one of the filming locations for the hit TV series Downton Abbey), before continuing our journey north to Fort William where you’ll be spending the first night of your tour in Scotland.
We’ll take the picturesque coastal route to Fort William, passing through perhaps the most dramatic of Scotland’s landscapes: Glencoe Mountain Range. We’ll stop at the famous Three Sisters to take some pictures and perhaps a short hike if there is time (routes are suitable for a wide variety of fitness and activity levels).
The town of Fort William has ample choice of traditional pubs and restaurants for your group to visit throughout the evening, your driver-guide as always will be there to help advise you on the best options for your particular group.
Day 15: Nevis Range – Glenfinnan Viaduct – Mallaig – Isle of Skye – Portree
We start today with a morning gondola trip up the Nevis Range to see Ben Nevis – the highest mountain in the UK. We’ll pause at the top to take in the unparalleled views of the rugged Scottish Highlands before eventually returning to the ground as you have a train to catch!
And this is not just any train… It’s a magical train powered by witchcraft and wizardry!
This morning you’ll have the honor of riding on the Jacobite Express Steam Train – more commonly known to Harry Potter fans as the ‘Hogwarts Express’. With first-class seats and some themed snacks on board, you’ll transcend this beautiful rail route in style, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct (which featured in a number of the Harry Potter movies), before arriving at the quaint fishing village of Mallaig, where your driver-guide will be dutifully waiting for you at the end of the track.
You and your driver-guide will have a bit of time to explore the town before you board a ferry to the awe-inspiring Isle of Skye. Known for its particularly stunning landscapes, picturesque fishing villages, and medieval castles, Skye is one of the greatest Scottish islands to tour around, and certainly not something you’d want to miss on your own Scottish discovery.
Your driver-guide will take your group on a scenic drive around parts of the island, stopping whenever you’d like to take in the magnificent views and snap a picture or two as a memento, before we arrive at the delightful village of Portree – your base for exploring the island for the next day.
In the evening, you may wish to wander the town’s harbourside pubs and boutiques, or if you’re still feeling active after a long day, your driver-guide could take your group on a scenic evening walk up one of the island’s many trails or viewpoints to watch the sunset over the Scottish Inner Hebrides.
Day 16: Old Man of Storr – Fairy Pools – Dunvegan Castle – Eilean Donan Castle – Inverness
Today your Scottish tour starts early (depending on just how much “exploring” of the local pubs your group undertook the night before) as we take a morning hike up the Old Man of Storr – you’ll quickly understand why this large standing formation of rock attracts hill walkers and photographers the world over.
From Storr, your driver-guide will take you to the famous Fairy Pools on Skye – a collection of stunning waterfalls which produce magnificently vibrant colors – before continuing on to Dunvegan Castle for a guided tour.
Dunvegan Castle is the ancestral home of the Chiefs of the Clan MacLeod – and has been for the last 800 years! Having been originally designed as an island fortress to keep invaders out, the castle opened its doors to visitors in 1933 so we could learn all about the extraordinary history and clan legends of this glorious Highland estate.
After touring the castle and taking a leisurely stroll through the surrounding gardens, your driver-guide will take your group over the Skye Bridge (connecting the island to the mainland), to pay a visit to perhaps the most famous – or at least the most photographed – castle in Scotland: Eilean Donan.
Dramatically seated at the meeting point of three great lochs, Eilean Donan is as stunning as it is historically intriguing; this seductive castle has stood strong on its wee bit of land and sea from as early as the 13th century (playing host to many a clan battle and feud since) and continues to entice almost every visitor that lays eyes on her to this day.
Indeed, the castle’s beauty is not just reserved for tourism as it’s also caught the eye of Hollywood; most notably featuring in the original “Highlander” as well as a number of the James Bond films in recent years.
Finally, after a long day touring around some of Scotland’s premier sites, your driver-guide will take your group to your accommodation in the proclaimed Capital of the Highlands: Inverness.
Day 17: Loch Ness Tour – Urquhart Castle – Private Boat Ride & Tasting – Cairngorms National Park – Pitlochry
Few tales (or ‘tails’ rather) are as famous in Scotland as Nessie The Loch Ness Monster, and today you’ll get to tour the home of the notorious beast – you might even catch a glimpse of Nessie herself!
We start our morning with a beautiful drive around Loch Ness, eventually reaching Urquhart Castle – a stunning set of ruins perched on the banks of the loch. You’ll tour the castle with your private guide and learn about the castle’s historic significance to the region before taking a private boat trip onto the loch itself!
Collected by the shore of Urquhart Castle, you’ll glide through the famous loch accompanied by your own crew and ample complimentary ample whiskies to taste as well as a traditional food platter – statistically, you’re 80% more likely to see sightings of Nessie after finishing a few wee drams of local whisky… no one quite knows why.
In the afternoon we’ll swap sea for land as we leave Loch Ness and enter into the stunning Cairngorms National Park. Here you’ll have your choice of some of Scotland’s most beautiful nature trails and woodlands – for the more adventurous among you, we can also arrange 4×4 off-roading, quad-biking, clay pigeon shooting, and more at some of the excellent local outdoors centers.
Finally, our last stop of the day will be Dalwhinnie Distillery – a Single Malt Scotch producer just south of the Cairngorms – where you’ll get the chance to tour the facilities and learn all about how Scotland’s famous spirit is created!
Once you’ve had your fill of Dalwhinnie’s undeniable delights, we’ll finish the day with a short scenic drive to the charming town of Pitlochry where we will retire for the evening.
Day 18: Glamis Castle & St Andrews Day Trip
We’ll spend today touring some of the grandest sites in Scotland, beginning with a tour of Glamis Castle – the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
Glamis has been home to the Lyon family (The Queen Mother’s maiden family) since the 14th century, but its roots and importance seem to date back far further than that…
Indeed, the castle’s vicinity even features prehistoric traces (most notably an intricately carved Pictish stone from around the 8th century AD) as well as playing host to some early royal drama (King Malcolm II was murdered there in 1034) and amassing more than a few ghost stories over the years as a result (well, it wouldn’t be a Scottish castle without them).
Once you’ve toured the castle and immersed yourself in its storied history, we’ll drive to the true “Home of Golf”: St Andrews.
We’ll spend the afternoon exploring this beautiful town. You’ll get the chance to see the iconic Swilcan Bridge on the Old Course’s 18th hole, where so many golfing greats have crossed over the years; enjoy a guided tour of the famous university (where Royal Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge met his future wife); as well as explore the ruined Cathedral of St Andrew – which was built in 1158 and quickly became the center of the Medieval Catholic Church in Scotland.
Once you’ve finished touring St Andrews your driver-guide will return you to your accommodation in Pitlochry.
Day 19: Stirling Castle & Wallace Monument – Glasgow – Flight to Belfast
Today we’ll be visiting two incredible and fascinating sites in the historic town of Stirling: Stirling Castle and The Wallace Monument.
We’ll start at Stirling’s imposing 12th-century fortress: sitting atop Castle Hill, Stirling Castle is one of the most historically and architecturally important structures in Scotland. Its fascinating past features more failed sieges than one could possibly recount and served as the crowning destination of Scottish Kings and Queens (most famously Mary, Queen of Scots) for centuries before the union with England.
Next up, we’ll head to The Wallace Monument – a striking 19th-century commemoratory structure that pierces through the Stirling skyline (rather fittingly) like a sword! You’ll be given a guided tour of the monument where you’ll learn more about the life, death, and memory of the Guardian of Scotland: Sir William Wallace.
Finally, in the late afternoon, your driver-guide will deliver you to the door of Glasgow Airport, where you’ll catch a flight to Belfast. When you arrive in Northern Ireland, you’ll be greeted and welcomed by your Irish driver-guide and taken to your accommodation in the city center.
Optional Ferry From Scotland to Belfast (+1 Day)
If you’d prefer to travel to Belfast via a ferry, then our guides will accompany you over the Irish sea in your luxury tour vehicle and organize for you to see some sites on the Ayrshire coast before you catch your ferry.
Your Scottish driver guide will make sure you’re settled in your Belfast hotel before bidding you farewell and allowing the Irish guides to introduce themselves the following morning before you start touring the city.
Day 20: Belfast Tour – Titanic Quarter – Carrick-a-Rede – Giant’s Causeway – Dunluce Castle – Derry
We’ll start our tour of the city in the Titanic Quarter where you’ll get the chance to explore the world-class interactive museum on the site where the infamous ship was constructed back in 1911.
Following your guided tour of the museum, we’ll enjoy some lunch at the nearby Titanic Hotel before setting off to the gorgeous Causeway Coastal Route passing the 12th-century Carrickfergus Castle en route to the northern tip of the island.
We’ll take a short stop at the picturesque village of Carnlough and go for a stroll by its quaint harbor before continuing on the coast before reaching the Glens of Antrim where legends say the island’s famous fairies and leprechauns reside.
In the early afternoon, we’ll stop for lunch in the stunning coastal town of Ballycastle before we explore (and even cross if your feeling daring enough) the awe-inspiring Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge – a bridge that links the tiny island of Carrickarede to the mainland, spanning 20 meters 30 meters above the rocks below.
We’ll spend the remainder of the afternoon exploring two include sites: Giant’s Causeway and Dunluce Castle.
We start with Giant’s Causeway – Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your private guide will tell you all about the legend of Giant Finn MacCool as you explore the uniquely shaped stones.
Next up, we’ll take a short drive to explore the nearby medieval ruins of Dunluce Castle – which sits dramatically perched on the edge of the northern coast – before we finish our long day touring with a transfer to your accommodation in the famous walled city of Derry.
Day 21: Derry – Donegal – Sligo – Galway
We’ll spend part of the morning exploring the city of Derry itself – as you will have arrived in the evening with your guide the night before. We’ll start off with a short tour of the city’s famous intact 17th-century walls and some of its 7 gates before finishing at the Tower Museum near the Peace Bridge to explore its fascinating artifacts and exhibitions as well as enjoy wonderful views over the city.
From Derry, we’ll return to your luxury vehicle and cross the border back into the south, headed for the 15th-century quaint town of Donegal. Your guide will take your group on a short wander around the town, perhaps enjoying a tour of the local castle or the ancient abbey ruins, before we continue our journey down the Wild Atlantic Way towards the rugged countryside of Sligo.
A famed literary powerhouse, Sligo is a town steeped in history, charm, and beauty in equal measure – containing a wonderful variety of experiences suited to any traveler.
Enjoy a guided tour of the ruined medieval Sligo Abbey to explore its carved tombs and 15-century alter, or a visit to the Sligo County Museum which displays a range of memorabilia of local poet W.B. Yeats, paintings, and Stone Age artifacts, before we finish our tour for the day with a beautiful drive to the harbor city of Galway.
Throughout the evening, we’d encourage your group to take advantage of the local bars and restaurants which fill the quaint streets with traditional music and dancing.
Day 22: Galway City Tour – Cliffs of Moher – Village of Doolin – Killarney
We start the day with a tour of Galway’s City Center. The heart of the city is the 18-century Eyre Square – a popular meeting point for locals and visitors alike to wander the boutiques and traditional pubs.
We’ll continue our tour to the Latin Quarter of the city which still retains parts of its medieval city walls before leaving the city to visit perhaps the island’s most popular destination: Cliffs of Moher.
Soaring over 200 meters high and spanning a massive 8 kilometers along the famed Wild Atlantic Coast, neither words nor photographs can fully capture the power and beauty of the cliffs. You’ll spend the afternoon exploring this wonder with your private guide who will let you know all about the folklore and myths the cliffs have collected over the years.
Once you’re finished exploring the cliffs, we’ll head to the coastal village of Doolin where you’ll enjoy a traditional Irish meal and explore the nearby area with your guide.
Finally, we’ll finish up the day with a drive to your accommodation in Killarney.
Day 23: Dingle Bay – Sheepdog Demonstration – Ring of Kerry
Today we journey through the awe-inspiring scenery of the Coast of Kerry, traveling the road better known as the Ring of Kerry – a circular route that forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way.
We begin the final day with a scenic drive through the mountain pass of Molls Gap where we’ll take a short pause to take in the incredible views of Skellig Island – a key location in the Star Wars movies – before your driver-guide continues Dingle Bay.
You’ll spend an hour or so exploring the bay, its bustling array of wildlife, and the harbor town of Dingle to the north before we continue our tour with a visit to Brendan Farris – an Irish border collie trainer who will give your group the opportunity to experience an incredible traditional sheepdog demonstration!
Finally, your days touring will come to a close as we return to your accommodation in Killarney for the evening.
Day 24: Killarney – Blarney Castle – Kilkenny – Dublin
As the end of our tour together starts to approach, today we’ll leave Killarney in the morning and head to the famous Blarney Castle in County Cork – an early 13th Century castle and home to the famous ‘Blarney Stone’.
Legend has it that those brave enough to lean over the edge and kiss the stone will be granted the gift of eloquence and verbal dexterity. I’m sure you’ll agree that would be a better souvenir of your trip than anything you could find in a gift shop!
With so much more to discover, we set off from Blarney Castle to the undisputed heart and soul of Viking and Medieval Ireland, Kilkenny. Here you will have the chance to visit:
Kilkenny Castle: Built in 1195, the castle was featured in Oliver Cromwell’s re-conquest of Ireland in 1650 and was besieged during the Irish Civil War in 1922.
St. Mary’s Medieval Mile Museum: bringing to life Kilkenny’s history as a medieval city, this museum displays Kilkenny’s civic treasures and replicas of some of the High Crosses of Ossory illustrate the local Gaelic monastic heritage and the ancient city’s historic role in Ireland.
Finally, after a long day touring, we’ll reach your accommodation in the heart of the Irish capital: Dublin.
